Dear Josephine, thank you for your question. This castle is one of the Medici's Villas in the countryside. It is in the Mugello hills (about 18 km far from Florence), where the Medici family is supposed to originate from. Cafaggiolo was an ancient tower which was restaured by Cosimo the Elder who entrusted his favourite architect Michelozzo in 1443. Until last year it could be visited - museum, banqueting hall and huge park. At the moment is is under restauration, it will be an international hotel very soon........baci da Firenze
